2017: First satellite launched and the charity rebrands

2017 marked a significant year for the charity with two major developments: the launch of its first satellite clinic and a rebrand to Muscular Dystrophy Support Centre. The new outreach clinic, located in Droitwich Spa, was designed to bring osteopathy treatments closer to service users in their communities, improving access to therapy. Launched in February and led by osteopath and trustee Jane Field, the satellite clinic received a very positive response from service users.

In addition to this exciting development, the charity decided to rebrand and rename itself Muscular Dystrophy Support Centre. This change was prompted by several factors:

  • The term “neuromuscular” was not widely understood by the general public.
  • The name “NMC Midlands” did not clearly convey the charity’s mission as a centre offering help and support.
  • The logo and colour scheme no longer reflected the charity’s services.
  • Although based in the Midlands, the charity wanted to clarify that it welcomes referrals from anywhere, a point that was often misunderstood.
  • Finally, the charity was frequently mistaken for being affiliated with NMC Cheshire, despite being a separate organisation with a distinct ethos and vision.
