Join MD Support Centre’s Race to Paris and help us go the distance!

Join our Race to Paris this September and help us reach 330 miles one pedal at a time!

We’re calling on our MD community to join our team and help us cycle a combined total of 335 miles – the distance from London to Paris – over five days. While Donna, Lynn and Sarah take on the real-life route from London to we’ll be racing them from our Coventry Centre. Can you help us catch them?

Riding in spirit

Using our TheraTrainer bikes and a stationary cycle, we’ll work as a team to see if we can catch, or even beat, the riders as they speed their way towards the finish line. Let’s ride with them in spirit and see how far we can go together.

You can take part by paying a donation or getting sponsored to ride. There’s no minimum distance and no pressure – just join in, do what feels right for you, and help us raise vital funds for our work. Every effort helps us raise vital funds and support people living with muscular dystrophy and neuromuscular conditions.

Whether you cycle with your legs or arms, do five minutes or five miles, every effort counts. If you’re not sure whether it’s suitable for you, please speak to your treating physiotherapist for advice.

Why get involved?

Our Race to Paris event than just a cycling challenge, it’s a great way to feel part of something bigger.

We’re aiming to raise £2,000 to fund our specialist therapies and support services – the same fundraising target as of our road riders, Lynn, Donna, and Sarah. Every donation or pound of sponsorship will help us reach our goal while raising vital funds for the work we do every day.

You’ll be joining a shared challenge alongside your fellow service users, MD Support Centre staff, friends, and family, all working towards the same goal. It’s a chance to move your body in a safe, supported environment, have some fun, and make a meaningful difference.

Inspired by an epic journey, you’ll also be showing your support for Donna Scarrott, one of our amazing service users, who’ll be cycling from London to Paris alongside Lynn Ward, our Co-Lead Physiotherapist, and Sarah Ann Moore, our former CEO. They’ll be covering 335 miles over four days to raise money for the Centre. We’re not just following their journey; we’re racing alongside them in our own way.

How the Race to Paris Challenge Works

The challenge runs from Monday 8 to Friday 12 September in our Coventry Centre.

To keep things running smoothly, we’re booking people into 30-minute time slots. There’s no pressure to cycle for the full 30 minutes – just do what you can, it all adds up. If you’re not sure whether it’s suitable for you, please speak to your treating physiotherapist.

Our brilliant Therapy Assistant, Suki, will be on-hand throughout the week to support you. She’ll be there to help you get set up, assist you on and off the bikes, and make sure you feel comfortable and confident taking part.

You can also join in by making a donation or asking friends and family to sponsor your ride here. Together, we’ll see how close we can get to the 335-mile finish line.

Throughout the week, we’ll also be holding themed social events in the Centre which we’d love for you to join:

  • Monday: Croissants and coffee to start us off
  • Tuesday: A French-themed bake sale
  • Friday: Coffee morning and raffle to celebrate what we’ve achieved
