With premises secured, the founding trustees formally established NMC Midlands, with Julian Pritchard as the first Chair. Supported by the Neuromuscular Centre Winsford, work began in September 2012 to get the centre up and running. The first manager was recruited, and efforts focused on building a service user base and hiring specialist neuromuscular physiotherapists.

In November 2012, the Lord Mayor of Coventry officially launched the charity at NMC Midlands’ opening ceremony and the centre opens its doors. The new charity launched its first advocacy clinic, offering support with house adaptations, care packages, benefits, workplace issues, and more. This service was run in partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
