Our Impact

We are committed to helping people living with muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular conditions stay stronger for longer, improve quality of life, and feel supported in both body and mind.

Through specialist therapy, advice and support, we help people maintain mobility, strength and independence, manage pain more effectively, stay active in their communities, and continue doing the things that matter most to them. Many people tell us that our support helps them feel more confident, in control of their condition, and less reliant on other healthcare services.

“A fantastic team who work tirelessly to improve the lives of so many people with muscular dystrophy. Thank you for making a difference and improving the way we live.”

“If I hadn’t been to be able to come and have regular #physio I would not be where I am today. I’ve had ten years of treatment, and I’m very proud to say, at eighty-six, I’m a damn sight fitter than some of my friends It’s the regular muscles being unknotted that keeps you able to live a life.”

Judi

“I regularly refer people to the MD Support Centre because I see the difference the team makes. I was particularly impressed by the aquatic exercise classes, and I’ve seen patients achieve outcomes that weren’t possible elsewhere. One patient who had resisted stretching exercises for years finally engaged with physiotherapy through Dan’s support and improved so much that an orthotic heel wedge was no longer needed.”

“It’s not just swimming and physical exercise by our wonderful physiotherapists at Excel Leisure centre – you meet new service users, there’s great camaraderie, and you make new friends. I know for me it improves my well being and the feeling of weightlessness when in the water is just amazing. The support from the MD Support Centre team is second to none.”
