MD Support Centre benefits from Amazon donation

Amazon in Coventry has made a £2,000 donation to MD Support Centre to help people living with lifelong neuromuscular conditions.

MD Support Centre offers in-person physical therapies to help people maintain their health, mobility and independence. The donation from Amazon will go towards the running costs of the services provided from the charity’s headquarters at Coventry’s Westwood Business Park.

Paul Roberts, General Manager at Amazon in Coventry, said: “The team at Amazon in Coventry is pleased to be partnering with MD Support Centre with this donation. We hope this will support staff and volunteers as they provide important care for the physical and mental wellbeing of patients.”

Helen Hone, Fundraising Manager for MD Support Centre, added: “On behalf of all staff, volunteers and service users here at MD Support Centre, I want to thank Paul and the rest of the Amazon team for this donation. Donations like this mean we can continue to offer free, specialised sessions such as physio and osteopathy to the local MD Community to help them live well with their condition, and we really appreciate this support.”

Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK.

Amazon provides students, teachers and parents with free computer science and STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and has teamed up with charity partner Magic Breakfast to deliver more than seven million healthy breakfasts to children at risk of hunger in disadvantaged areas of the country.

Earlier this year, Amazon partnered with Comic Relief to become the official home of the Red Nose.

Amazon employees across the UK hosted fundraising activities and together with their customers and partners, raised £2.7 million to support those going through the toughest time of their lives.
