Fundraising Assistant

Born in Germany I came to the UK aged 19 for a voluntary year at the beautiful Coventry Cathedral and fell in love with this country, its culture, and its people. So I started my Communication, Culture and Media Degree at Coventry University, graduating in 2007. Initially working in insurance, I found my love for a more creative work environment. This led to me moving back to Germany for 11 months for an internship in a PR agency. I returned to Coventry in 2011 and embarked on my journey in the Marketing and PR world, for smaller technology and telecommunication companies.

Redundancies and a very competitive job market meant, I changed my career and worked in export for the next 5 years. A lot happened in those 5 years: a wedding and the birth of my two wonderful children – this meant I needed a more flexible approach and a better work/life balance. I also missed working creatively for a good cause.

I made the move to become a fundraising administrator with The Ambulance Staff charity without previous experience in the field, but realised quickly, that my background in Marketing and PR is a bonus when trying to engage the public, a community or Trusts. I fell in love with fundraising and being part of a team that strives to make a difference.

In May 2020 I joined the team here at The Muscular Dystrophy Support Centre as a Fundraising Assistant and I am enjoying getting to know all our service users and working hand in hand to grow the Centre.
