Mazhar Abbas
Mazhar Abbas is a qualified physiotherapist who earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2021 in Pakistan. During his supervised clinical practice, he worked as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist at Zafar Hospital in Lahore and at Rising Sun Institute. Here he supported children with cerebral palsy, autism, and other long-term conditions. These experiences sparked a strong interest in working with people living with complex and lifelong conditions.
Abbas completed a Master’s in Exercise Medicine at Chester Medical School. He later worked in private physiotherapy practice in the UK before joining the MD Support Centre.
Abbas is now building on his MSK background to support people living with muscular dystrophy. He’s passionate about contributing to research that improves understanding and treatment, and about making a real difference to people’s quality of life.
Splitting his time between the Coventry Centre and satellite clinics, Abbas values reaching service users who may find it difficult to travel. He says, "I always ask myself this question: what are you doing for others?" – a mindset that guides his compassionate, person-centred approach to care.
