Louise Meadows

Reception & Administrative Assistant

After leaving college in 2007 I began my career volunteering for the Redditch Advocacy Team as an Administration Support worker until their closure in 2009.

Having gained lots of experience I then worked for the Citizens Advice Bureau in Redditch for the next five years until their unfortunate closure due to funding, but with a wealth of knowledge gained I decided to take a short break in my career.

During this time I enjoyed my hobbies – yes another Aston Villa fan, crafts and gaming, looking after my mad cat “Sam”, and of course my Mom who I live with having lost my Dad in 2006.

During this time I also helped out at the Spinal Muscular Atrophy Trust in Stratford-on-Avon.

In 2015 I joined the Heart of England Mencap Head Office in a Receptionist & Administration Assistant role and was elated when they offered me my first salaried position. I loved it and was so disappointed when I was made redundant two years later, once again due to funding.

But I didn’t give up and remained positive. When I was referred to the MDSC as a service user, I decided to volunteer as well and was over the moon to join the centre as an employee in 2018.

I absolutely love my job, mainly working from home but also on Reception when needed especially on a Saturday.

I am totally dedicated to the centre, so happy to see the expansion and helping our many service users to live a better quality of life with the treatments on offer and having made friends along the way.

I am looking forward to the continued success of the centre for many years to come.
