Jane Edwards Field

Co-Lead Osteopath, Trustee

Jane qualified the University College of Osteopathic Medicine (UCOM) (previously known as the British School of Osteopathy (BSO)) in 1980 after a 4 year course in osteopathic medicine. Once leaving college, Jane took up a post in Rochdale taking over a very busy practice working with 20 to 28 patients per day.

In the late 80’s Jane became the Lead Osteopath to the Junior Judo Olympics.

In November 1981, after one year in Rochdale, Jane set up my own Osteopathic Practice in Droitwich. From 1983 to 1997, as well as running this practice, she returned to the BSO as Senior Clinical Tutor and Lecturer in clinical diagnosis for final year students.

Some of her previous roles include - Osteopath to Droitwich and Bromsgrove rugby club; Chair for the Worcestershire branch of the National Arthritis group; Headhunted to work in the BUPA, Solihull multidisciplinary clinic.

She is also qualified in IMS (Modern medical acupuncture) since September 2006.

One of Janes passions is as a solo classical singer. Naturally this has given her a different perspective and interest in posture and breathing techniques.

Her son, Murray was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) in 2005. This had a major impact on her and her husbands lives.

This inspired them to set up and run their own charity - Murray’s Muscles - striving to help other MD patients fund equipment in the Midlands. As well as this Jane became heavily involved with the then Muscular Dystrophy Campaign (MDC) (now Muscular Dystrophy UK (MDUK)).

Her personal experience of muscular dystrophy and her wealth of knowledge around equipment and treatment techniques, she was invited to sit on the Joseph Patrick Trust panel (a funding arm for MDUK).

Seeing issues with care for physical therapies for MD patients, Jane got together with a group of likeminded people and founded the Neuromuscular Centre Midlands (NMCM), now known as the Muscular Dystrophy Support Centre (MDSC) - striving for a world class multidisciplinary integrated physical therapy team offering ongoing treatment to MD patients.

Jane is highly skilled in all aspects of physical medicine including Epley Manoeuvre and specialisms in chronic pain, neuromuscular disorders, breathing techniques and anxiety disorders. Jane uses hands on techniques with an holistic approach to treatment, IMS and CBT and other counselling techniques.

Jane also serves as a primary healthcare practitioner within the NHS.
