Helen McCarroll

Communications Officer

Helen leads communications at the Muscular Dystrophy Support Centre and manages the Service User Participation Worker. She is responsible for keeping service users informed and connected, while also raising awareness of the charity's work among external audiences.

With nearly 20 years' experience in the charity sector, Helen has worked across a range of areas including disability, homelessness and social care. Throughout her career she has specialised in communications, information and advice services, helping organisations engage effectively with the people and communities they support.

Helen is passionate about sharing the real stories behind the charity's work and demonstrating the impact specialist support can have on people's lives. She is committed to ensuring communications play a strategic role in helping the charity grow, strengthen its community and reach more people living with neuromuscular conditions. She is also a strong advocate for service user participation and believes that people with lived experience should play a meaningful role in shaping the services they use.

Outside of work, Helen enjoys painting, crafting, exploring the countryside on long walks and spending time with her two cats.
